LINE Bank Taiwan was established as a joint venture between LINE, Japan's largest social platform, and Mizuho Bank, launched in Taiwan in 2019 (with Japan launch following in 2021). The bank operates as a digital-native institution integrated into the LINE social ecosystem, with deep ties to LINE Pay and the personalized financial product recommendation surface that the platform supports.

THE CHALLENGE

Deep integration with LINE's social ecosystem and a regulatory deadline in Taiwan.

LINE Bank Taiwan required deep integration of banking services with LINE's social ecosystem, including LINE Pay and the ninety-million-user Japanese-market platform, demanding API-first design and high concurrency processing capabilities. The platform had to satisfy Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission licensing requirements and go live under the regulator's deadline, while supporting the personalized financial product recommendations that LINE-integrated banking demands.

THE BANKWARE ENGAGEMENT

BX Core Banking plus BX components, with API-first integration to LINE Pay.

Bankware provided BX Core Banking (CBP) plus BX-M (application platform), BX-I (interface integration), and BX-PF (product factory), supporting deep integration with LINE Pay and personalized financial product recommendations. Note that LINE Bank uses CBP plus BX components, not BADA SaaS, running as a control-first deployment alongside the LINE social-ecosystem integration layer.

THE RESULT

Five-to-six month go-live, flagship reference for the Japanese and Taiwanese markets.

LINE Bank Taiwan went live in five to six months, against the industry-typical eighteen months, establishing a flagship reference case for Bankware in the Japanese and Taiwanese markets using CBP architecture. Ninety million LINE Japan users can now potentially access integrated banking services through the joint venture, with deep LINE Pay ecosystem integration powering the day-to-day customer experience.
